Prasonissi Beach Rhodes Island
A small peninsula in summer, a small islet in winter, Prasonissi beach is most of all the surfers paradise, the place where everything is about the waves. Prasonissi is actually located on the last edge of the Rhodes Island, in its most Southern point, 95 km away from Rhodes Town, at the other end of the island.
The beach of Prasonissi shows you two faces – a big-waved and open-sea area of the beach to the right, and the secluded left one. The right side of the beach offers windsurf equipment to rent, and even if you are a beginner, the waves of Prasonissi are much too tempting not to try your hand on windsurf.
The 500 metres long strip connecting Prasonissi with Rhodos is sandy on both sides, offering facilities to relax after a full day of adrenaline, especially picturesque seafront tavernas, inviting with freshly captured grilled fish.
When visiting Prasonissi beach, you need to learn the sportive slang. You will find out that windsurf can be practices at any weather, because of the wind, blowing different on the two beaches, while the whole Aegean Sea is completely calm – the wave one (with 1 to 4 meters height waves) and the flat one (with small waves, ideals for the beginners and for the free style. This is why Prasonissi beach waters area always crowded!
Public buses connect Prasonissi beach with the rest of the Rhodes Island.
